About The Create Unknown

There’s a new dream job out there and it’s Creator. The allure of flexing your creative muscles in the limelight for a living is enticing young and old to jump on YouTube and start recording. But a lot can happen on the way to millions of subscribers.

In ‘The Create Unknown’ co-hosts Kevin Lieber and Matt Tabor take time off from getting millions of views on the education YouTube channel Vsauce2 to reveal how dozens of dynamic creators have successfully navigated the ever-changing, uncertain landscape of online media — and how others have been swallowed by digital quicksand.

Through intensely personal conversations, listeners learn what it takes to not only survive but thrive as a creator and in life. Interviews cover everything from getting started as a YouTuber to how you land that first brand deal and the realities of being a digital influencer.

‘The Create Unknown’ is the ultimate behind-the-scenes YouTube podcast. New episodes every other Thursday. Listen for free on your favorite podcast app and on YouTube.

Kevin Lieber, host of The Create Unknown podcast
Kevin Lieber

Kevin Lieber hosts and produces Vsauce2, part of the most popular education network on YouTube. He weaves together math, science, technology, psychology, philosophy and history to explain the complexities of the human experience in mind-feeding videos that have been watched over half a billion times by 4 million subscribers.

He helped pioneer the new landscape of web-based educational videos by developing formats that deliver information in fresh and memorable ways. He’s hosted events ranging from the Deadpool premiere in New York City to Google’s XPRIZE in Los Angeles and made custom videos with brands including National Geographic, Sesame Studios, Royal Caribbean and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Kevin is a regular speaker whose credentials include the YouTube Pro Series (Building A Digital Brand), VidCon (Science Communication), ComicCon (The Future of Online Education), FEEcon (Entrepreneurship), and TEDx Vienna (Simplexity).

Kevin’s curiosity has led to thousands of hours researching everything from the cognitive limits of social relationships to the forgotten cure for scurvy, and he’s made videos everywhere from a remote Mars simulator on a Hawaiian volcano to the floor next to his toilet.

Matt Tabor, host of The Create Unknown podcast
Matt Tabor

Matt Tabor’s CV reads like a Mad Lib: entrepreneurship, academia, film production, woodworking and welding, international politics, and even professional bowling. In 2013, he drew on his long-time experience as Editor-in-Chief for a range of education publications to join Vsauce2 as a writer and producer.

Matt is well-versed in both the creative and business sides of the industry, having represented talent and founded a 360° company that specializes in content, branding, and media production. He serves as Managing Director of Marketing for the online farming education startup Steader, and he is the executive producer of the award-winning documentary film The Last Stop. His writing and editing credits address public policy, the psychology of sport, old-time music, and international entrepreneurship.

And to top it off, he’s also lived and worked in 8 countries spanning Europe, South Asia, and the Middle East, including several years employing game theory and risk management as a full-time poker player. He splits his time between Las Vegas and his 19th century family farm in Cooperstown, NY, and is equally comfortable discussing linguistic demography as the superiority of the cowboy boot.
